Question
Why Is My New KC Panel Not Communicating?
Answer
Use the following items as a checklist for resolving communications issues.
Refer to the Keyscan KC Series Documentation article for supporting literature.
If the following items are checked and the panel is still not communicating, contact Support.
Firewalls & Ports
KC panels utilize TCP ports 8000 (outbound) and 3001 (inbound) by default.
What Ports Does Keyscan Aurora Use?
In most cases, the return port (3001) is blocked, causing partial, or complete communication failure.
Always consult your IT team prior to making any security changes.
An inbound rule for TCP port 3001 may be required to allow successful communications.
Depending on security levels, an outbound rule for TCP port 8000 may be required.
If CA/EC panels are using reverse networking on the same installation, the listening ports must be different.
Communication Service
Ensure that the Keyscan KC Series Communications service is installed & running.
Check your services by pressing the Windows key and the R key at the same time.
In the Run Command dialogue box type “services.msc” and press Enter.
If the site was updated & not a new installation, KC Communications is not part of the installer.

If the service is installed & will not start, ensure to add an encryption key into Aurora.
Encryption Key
The encryption key in Aurora must match the key entered into the KC panel.
This encryption key is shared with CA/EC panels using reverse networking.
For installations with an existing encryption key, copy & paste the key into the new KC panel.
Aurora Settings
Verify the data entered into Aurora with the information on the Home screen of the KC panel.
Ensure that the panel pings ok.
If ports were changed in the KC panel during installation, ensure that Aurora reflects those changes.
