Failure to follow proper installation procedures for the E-Plex 7900 may void the lock’s warranty and disqualify eligibility for RMA services.
For Cylindrical Locks:
- Ensure the deadlatch (deadlocking pin/plunger) contacts the strike plate when the door is closed.
- The deadlocking plunger must not enter the strike plate opening.
- This plunger is critical for security, as it deadlocks the latchbolt and prevents forced entry when the door is closed.
- A gap greater than 1/8" between the latchbolt and strike plate may reduce security and/or cause improper latch operation.
Strike Plate & Alignment:
- Mortise the door jamb properly to fit the strike box and strike plate.
- Ensure accurate alignment between the strike plate and latchbolt centers.
- Use only the strike plate, strike box, or strike kit provided with the lock.
General Notes:
- The deadlatch on the E-Plex 7900 serves multiple critical functions; incorrect installation may negatively impact performance.
- These installation requirements also apply to mortise locks.
