Command cards are used to set up E-Plex 7900 wireless locks and perform specific actions.
The E-Plex 7900 wireless lock requires a kit of command cards to work in conjunction with the Aurora software.
The cards should be stored in a secure place after installation and should not be discarded.
Part Numbers
Ensure that you have purchased one of the following part numbers:
- MiFare (K-E79MIF) to be used with lock series E79N1…
- Prox (K-E79PRX) to be used with lock series E79N2…
- iClass Classic (K-E79CSCLS) to be used with lock series E79N6...
Card packs purchased from different sources might not function correctly.

Command cards can only be purchased in kits, as cards are not sold individually.
Factory
This card grants access to a wireless door lock when in Factory Mode (unprogrammed).
Factory Communication
This card places the wireless door lock into Communication Mode while still set to Factory Mode. Present the Factory Communication command card to the wireless door reader to initiate Communication Mode. The wireless door lock can now communicate with a PC MUnit (Enterprise) or handheld M-Unit (Aurora) as desired.
ZAC (ZigBee Access Code)
Note: This card is not required if using the PC M-Unit (Enterprise).
Follow these steps to commission a wireless door lock for use with Aurora or Enterprise software:
1) In the software client, edit the door and select the default ZAC button (Enterprise 080).
2) Use the software client to place the ZigBee hub (gateway) nearest to the door lock in Join Mode.
3) Present the ZAC command card to the door lock reader. The reader will blink Green and Red continuously while attempting to access the ZigBee network. If successful, the LED will blink Green, completing the ZAC process. If unsuccessful, the LED will blink Red.
4) After a successful ZAC process, the software client will automatically perform its door lock programming. The door lock is now fully functional and can be controlled remotely from the software client.
Reset to Factory
When the wireless lock is in Full Feature Mode, this command card will return the lock to factory defaults, including lock information and deleting all stored user credentials.
Follow these steps to use a Reset to Factory command card if a Master User card is available:
1) Insert and turn the mechanical key clockwise.
2) While still holding the key in position, present the Reset to Factory command card to the lock reader.
3) Present the Master User Access card when the reader LED blinks Green.
4) The door lock will reboot and return to Factory Mode.
Follow these steps to use a Reset to Factory command card if a Master User card is not available:
1) Insert and turn the mechanical key clockwise.
2) While still holding the key in position, present the Reset to factory command card to the lock reader. The door lock will then prompt for the Master User card by blinking a
Green LED for 10 seconds.
3) Allow the door lock to timeout (after 10 seconds) and blink a Red LED.
4) Wait 15 minutes. After which, the LEDs will blink Green, then Red. Present the Reset to Factory command card to the door reader to reset the wireless door lock to factory settings. If the user fails to present that Reset to Factory command card within the allotted time, the sequence will be aborted and the door lock will return to the mode it was in prior to resetting.
Communication
This card places a wireless lock into Communications Mode while in Full Feature Mode. A user with Master or Manager privilege can present the Communication card followed by their User Access card to the door lock reader. The wireless door lock can now communicate with a PC M-Unit (Enterprise) or handheld M-Unit (Aurora) as desired. M-Unit type User Access cards put the wireless lock into Communications Mode without the need
of a Communication card.
Site Emergency Lockdown
This card places all designated wireless door locks into Emergency Lockdown Mode as per your software system settings. A user with the appropriate privilege can present the Site Emergency Lockdown card followed by their User Access card to the door lock reader.
Without the Site Emergency Lockdown card, a wireless door lock can still be put into Emergency Lockdown Mode by presenting a User Access card (with the correct privilege) three times in succession (otherwise known as ‘P3’). The user must first possess P3 privilege in the software client.
Note: An offline wireless door lock cannot P3 in this mode.
Site Emergency Passage
This card places all designated wireless door locks into Emergency Passage Mode as per your software system settings. A user with the appropriate privilege can present the Site Emergency Passage command card followed by their User Access card to the door lock reader.
Without the Site Emergency Passage card, a wireless door lock can still be put into Emergency Passage Mode by presenting a User Access card (with the correct privilege) three times in succession (otherwise known as ‘P3’). The user must first possess P3 privilege in the software client.
Note: An offline wireless door lock cannot P3 in this mode.
Manual Passage
This card places all Entry and Privacy wireless door locks into Manual Passage Mode per the set length of time in the software system settings. Present the Manual Passage command card to the lock reader, followed by a Master or Manager User Access card.
Without the Manual Passage or Manual Passage Cancel command cards, a wireless door lock can still have Manual Passage Mode enabled/disabled by presenting a User Access card (with the correct privilege) three times in succession (otherwise known as ‘P3’). The user must first possess P3 privilege in the software client.
Manual Passage Cancel
This card cancels Manual Passage Mode. Present the Manual Passage command card to the lock reader, followed by a Master or Manager User Access card.
Room Lockout
This card places a wireless door lock into Room Lockout Mode. Present the Room Lockout command card to the lock reader, followed by a Master User Access card.
