Saflok 6000 – Encoder Not Encoding
This guide explains how to troubleshoot the Saflok 6000 encoder when you see the errors “RS232 Port Problem 184” or “Station Problem 11 – Cannot Find Host” in Ambiance, and you are unable to create keys in the PMS. Follow the steps below to verify encoder connections and restart the Saflok CRS services.
Issue
You may encounter one or both of the following messages:
Troubleshooting Overview
- Restart the Ambiance server and front desk workstations.
- If the issue continues, sign in using Administrator credentials and follow the steps below.
Step 1 – Check the Encoder Connection
- Unplug the encoder from the computer and reconnect it to the same USB port.
- If the problem persists, the Saflok Comm Request Service may not be running.
Note: The remaining steps require Administrator access.
Step 2 – Open Windows Services as Administrator
- Log in to the computer using Administrator credentials.
- Open the Start Menu and type Services.
- Right-click Services and select Run as administrator.
Step 3 – Verify Saflok Services Are Running
In the Services list, locate:
- Saflok Comm Request Server – IPC
- Saflok Service Launcher – IPC
- If a service is not running, select it and click Start or Restart.
Confirm that the services now show a status of Running.
Step 4 – Open the CRS Application
From the Desktop, launch the CRS application. The application will minimize automatically. You can find it in the system tray at the bottom-right of the screen.
Step 5 – Test Key Encoding
Attempt to create a key again. If the encoder is still not working, contact Technical Support.
