Description

PINs are required for Access users and Manager users when the lock is set to PIN & Card access mode, and for all Service users, as they have PIN-only access. 

Setting the Access PIN length must be the first programmable function performed on the lock, because all user Access PINs (except the Master PIN) must be the same length. If a user enters a PIN of a different length, the lock will not accept it.

Longer Access PIN lengths allow for a greater number of PIN combinations and therefore provide increased security. The Master credential PIN length is always 8 digits and cannot be changed.

Resolution

Required User Level: Master

1. To configure the E-Plex lock, it must remain in Factory Mode before performing any programming functions at the keypad.
   Important: This global User PIN length setup and the BHMA Lock Function setup are the only two programmable functions that can be performed while the lock is in Factory Mode using the factory default Master PIN. Changing the factory default Master PIN to a new Master PIN must also be done at this time.
   For BHMA Lock Function setup instructions, refer to the applicable E-PLEX Lock Function Setup Guide provided with the lock. 
    
2. Place the lock into pushbutton programming mode using the factory Master PIN (#12345678#). The lock will respond with a flashing green LED. If the factory Master PIN does not work, perform a Hard Reset following the procedure outlined on page 6.
3. Enter the command sequence 009#LL#, where LL represents the desired PIN length (number of digits). The allowable range is from 04 to 08 digits. If you do not wish to change the PIN length, leave the factory default of 4 digits unchanged.
4. Example of a complete entry: 009#05# to set the Access PIN length to 5 digits.
5. Press # again to indicate the end of programming.
6. All Access PINs created from this point forward will use the PIN length configured in Step 4.
