Question
I’m designing all-glass doors with patch fittings. What are my options for locking the doors?
Answer
There are several options. The most common is to use a bottom locking patch fitting, e.g., dormakaba’s UNIVERSAL AR20. It typically is keyed on the outside, with a thumbturn on the inside, but can be keyed on both sides, or with a blank cylinder on one side.
Another popular option is a locking ladder pull, e.g. dormakaba’s TG138. Standard and custom heights are available, as well as more variable keying options. They typically bolt into the floor but can be ordered to be top locking into the header.
There are additional options for locking, such as European-style STUDIO/JUNIOR/ARCOS locks and levers, as well as the Heavy-Duty Grade 1 Glass Lockset & Strike CLM9000.
