Update Process
• Mobile App, Software and Firmware should all be updated to the latest release for best functionality
• Below you will find steps to update firmware, software and the mobile app
• To receive updated versions please email commercial.safe.lock.orders.amer@dormakaba.com and include
one or more of the following
- Customer Number - can be found on the Registration page of software
- Original Order Number - can be found in subject line of original download
- License Number - can be found on the Registration page of your software
How to update CenconX Firmware:
Via Cable:
Important: To update the Lock and Keypad Firmware to the newest version, the Manager user will require the following:
• A PC with the Apexx Series Software client installed
• A 700 Series USB Dongle (Part # 7047040)
• A USB-to-Mini-USB Cable
Note: Before attempting to update firmware, first check to see what firmware version is installed on your devices. Also, confirm the new firmware version has been added in Application Settings -> Firmware Management
1. Connect the CenconX Keypad to the PC by doing the following:
a. Plug the 700 Series USB Dongle into the USB port of the PC
b. Plug the USB-connector end of the cable into the dongle
c. Plug the mini-USB end of the cable into the mini-USB port on the CenconX Keypad
2. On the CenconX Keypad, enter a valid Admin User ID and the corresponding combination.
a. Note: If the keypad and lock are not commissioned, no Admin User ID and combination are
required to perform a USB firmware update.
3. From the CenconX keypad menu, use the arrow keys to scroll and highlight "System" then
hit the blue enter key
4. Choose "FW Update" and press the blue enter key.
5. Choose "PC Link" and press the blue enter key.
6. From the Apexx Series Software Main Menu, select "Locks" then "USB Communication."
7. On USB Communication screen select the "Discover Devices" button (blue magnifying glass).
8. When the lock system appears onscreen, locate and click the Update Firmware
9. In the Firmware Update window, use the drop-down lists to select the connection type
"USB" and your Firmware file.
a. If your firmware file does not appear in the list, navigate to the Application Settings then Firmware
Management
10. Click the "Update Firmware" button. The Firmware Update process will begin and will conclude
after several minutes
Firmware Update via dormakaba Safe Locks app:
To perform a Firmware update, a Software User must first dispatch the necessary files to a mobile device by doing the following in Apexx Series Software:
1. From the main menu, click Locks > Lock Systems
2. From the Lock System Search screen, locate the name of the Lock System whose device firmware you
want to update, and click the Edit button(pencil).
3. Click the "Update Firmware" icon, located at the top right of the screen.
4. In the Firmware Update window, use the drop-down menu to select your Connection type (Mobile).
5. Use the drop-down menus to select a Mobile "User" and "Device" to send the firmware update
package to.
6. Use the drop-down menu to select a "Firmware File" (the .zip folder containing the firmware files). If
your firmware file does not appear in the list, navigate to the Firmware Management screen to
manage your firmware files.
7. Click the "Update Firmware" button. If you update via mobile, the firmware files will be dispatched
to the Mobile User/Device after the user logs into the dormakaba Safe Locks mobile app.
To complete the mobile firmware update process the Mobile User must do the following:
Note: This needs to be done by the Mobile User and using the device that the firmware file was dispatched to. The Mobile User will also need the Admin Code to be entered at the CenconX keypad to complete the process.
1. Open the dormakaba Safe Locks mobile app and log in using valid ID and PIN
2. Navigate to the Sync page of the app
3. On the Synce page select the Firmware Update File package and swipe to the left to select "Update"
4. At the CenconX keypad do the following:
a. Enter the Admin ID (00) and Code and select the Blue enter button
b. Navigate to the Main Menu to "System"
c. Select FW Update from the sub-menu
d. Select "BLE"
e. "Start FW Update" will appear on the display with a RED LED
5. Hit Refresh on the FW Update page of the mobile app
6. Select the CenconX lock to update
a. The firmware update process will begin and the LED on the keypad will turn GREEN
7. Remain on page in app until "FW Update Complete"
How to update Apexx Software:
• Download and follow all instructions in the update installer.

How to install or update dormakaba Safe Locks App
1. Search dormakaba Safe Locks in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download to your device
2. The app supports iOS 15+ and Android 8+ devices
3. If updates are not automatically turned on, please visit the app store and find dormakaba Safe Locks in your downloaded apps to prompt update
