How to configure a system to use the Remote Disable feature within the LA GARD Software Client?

Description

This procedure explains how to configure and program a system to use the Remote Disable feature using the LA GARD Software Client and a compatible LA GARD 700 Series Display Keypad.

Resolution

Part 1: Configure Remote Disable in the LA GARD Software Client

1. From the LA GARD software main menu, select Systems.
2. Select the system you want to configure from the Systems list.
3. If no systems exist, click the Create icon to add a new system.
4. When creating a new system, enter a system name and configure all required settings. Refer to the System User Guide (Document #7040.1121) for additional configuration details.

5. In the system settings, configure the Input Signal by selecting Remote Disabled from the drop-down menu.

   

6. Click the Save icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Part 2: Program the System Using PC Link

1. From the LA GARD software main menu, select Systems.
2. Select the system you want to program from the Systems list.
3. Click the PC Link icon to open the PC Link window.
4. In the PC Link window, select Program.
5. Verify the correct COM port is selected.

6. Select the Master User ID and enter the corresponding combination.

   

7. Ensure Input Signal is checked in the system settings list. Optionally select additional settings or use Select All.

8. Connect the Keypad to the PC:

   a. Insert the 700 Series USB Dongle into the PC.
   b. Connect the USB cable to the dongle.
   c. Connect the mini-USB end to the Keypad.

9. On the Keypad, enter the same Master User ID and combination.
10. Navigate to PC Link on the Keypad. “Connect Software” appears and the LED turns red.

11. In the PC Link window, click Send.

    “PC Link Active” appears on the Keypad and the LED turns green.

12. When programming completes, “PC Link Closed” appears and the system restarts automatically.
