How to Update Firmware from the LA GARD Software Client to the Keypad?

Description

This procedure explains how to update the firmware of a Keypad using the LA GARD Software client. Ensure all safety precautions, including keeping the safe door open if the Keypad is installed on a safe.

Resolution

Follow these steps to update the Keypad firmware:

1. Connect the Keypad to the PC:
   1. Plug the 700 Series USB Dongle into the PC.
   2. Connect the USB end of the cable to the dongle.
   3. Connect the mini-USB end to the Keypad.
2. Enter a valid User ID and combination on the Keypad.
3. Navigate the Main Menu using arrow buttons and select PC Link. The Keypad LED will turn red.
4. In the software client, open the Firmware Update sub-menu and fill in:
   • Port: Select the communication port from the drop-down menu.
   • Firmware File: Click Select File to locate the firmware update file and click Open.
   • Lock Selection: If updating lock firmware, select the specific lock.
5. If the Keypad has a display:
   • Navigate the Main Menu and select System (←).
   • Select FW Update. The display will show Start FW Update.
6. If the Keypad does not have a display:
   • Use the #99 command with an Authorized User combination to enter Firmware Update mode.
   • Note: The lock must be installed before updating firmware.
7. Click Upload in the software client. A progress bar will appear. The Keypad will beep three times and flash a green LED upon completion.

Important: For firmware versions earlier than 1.1.5.7, cycle power after the update to ensure system changes are saved.
