How to reinstall a keypad in a LA GARD 700 Series system?

Answer

A new keypad can be installed into the system to replace a damaged unit. This operation can be completed by an authorized user. When the installation is completed, an audit record will be stored in the lock identifying the user who installed the new keypad. Once the keypad is paired, the system returns to normal operation.

Keypads with display screens provide prompts that guide the user through the installation process. Refer to the Keypad Installation Guide (Document #7033.0322) for the exact command sequence for both:

1. Non-Display keypads
2. Display keypads

Important Note

The system will only recognize the same keypad model that was previously installed. If a different keypad model is used, the system will reject the reinstall process.

If you want to install a different keypad model, you must:

1. Reset or uninstall all locks connected to the system.
2. Reinstall the locks.
3. Install the new keypad model.

BLE and Dual Credential Considerations

If the keypad used for reinstall does not include the BLE option and the previous keypad was the same model with BLE (for example replacing a 703B keypad with a 703 keypad), and the system is configured to require Dual Credential, the following limitations apply:

1. Users who are required to present Dual Credentials will not be able to perform actions associated with their role.
2. The Master user can still perform actions because the Master role always uses Single Credential.
3. The Master user can change the Credential Mode to Single Credential using the keypad.
4. Once the Credential Mode is changed, the Credential Mode option will no longer appear in the System Menu because the only valid mode for a keypad without BLE is Single Credential.
