DPS-15 Power Supply Installation for CA/EC & KC Panels

Introduction

This guide outlines how to mount and connect the DPS-15 power supply to CA/EC & KC panels

Important – 1 Amp Maximum
The total current draw on each output should not exceed 1 Amp with 200mA in reserve for accommodating peak current operating demands. When calculating power requirements, ensure that you always observe this guideline when connecting the DPS-15 power supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use 1x transformer?
No. Both transformers are required for proper operation, even if the AUX/RDR output is not connected

Can I loop 1x transformer across both inputs?
No. If the correct transformer is used, there will be a lack of current for the DPS-15 to function properly. If a higher value transformer is used, the excessive heat will cause the DPS-15 to fail.

Do I really need a battery?
Yes. The battery does more than provide power during an outage, it is an integral part of the circuit.

Power Requirements:

• Primary power source: AC Power – requires two (2) 16V 40 VA or 16.5V 37 VA Class 2
  CSA/UL approved transformers
• Secondary power source: DC Power – battery backup required (12V battery – capacity
  of 13.6V @ full charge, UL recognized battery)

Notes:

The purpose of two transformers is to comply with UL STD 294, CAN/ULC STD 60839-11-
1:2016 Ed.1 and charge the battery circuit. The transformers must be located within 30
feet of the power supply. Do not mount the transformers inside the ACU metal
enclosure. All warranties are voided if non-compliant transformers or incorrect voltages are
used. The system may operate erratically if the voltage is lower than 12 VDC.
 

Do not use the DPS-15 to power door locks or auxiliary equipment.
