The E7900 integrates with the Genetec Security Center platform through dormakaba’s API-based middleware architecture.
The E7900 locks, repeaters and gateways communicate with each other via dormakaba’s wireless system.
Locks communicate wirelessly to gateways (optionally through repeaters). The gateways connect to the customer’s Ethernet/LAN, linking the wireless lock network to the IP infrastructure.
On the software side:
- The Genetec Security Center system resides on its standard server/database environment.
- dormakaba’s API middleware is installed within the database/server environment as well.
- This middleware acts as the bridge between the Genetec database and the E7900 SIGNA platform, enabling credential management, door control, monitoring, and events.
Architecture Characteristics
- No traditional access control hardware panels are required for the E7900 system.
- No additional interface boards or proprietary controllers are needed beyond the standard Genetec server environment.
- The only hardware components required for the locking ecosystem are:
- E7900 battery-powered locks (no wiring required)
- Gateways (Ethernet connected; AC or PoE powered)
- Repeaters (optional; powered only, no network connection required)
In Summary
The integration is a server-to-server API connection, where Genetec manages access control at the database level, and dormakaba’s middleware securely translates that activity to the wireless lock network—delivering a fully online, real-time system without traditional control panels or door wiring.
- E7900 Systems can support up to 100 gateway hierarchies per network Per Gateway Hierarchy
- Up to 100 locks per Gateway Hierarchy*
- Up to 32 locks connected directly to Gateway
- Up to 8 Repeaters per Gateway
- Up to 32 locks connected per Repeater
- Locks can be up to 2-Hops (2 repeaters, from gateway)
- Example : Gateway - Repeater1 - Repeater2 - Lock *Limit gateway hierarchies to 100 locks.
- While more are technically possible, dormakaba strongly recommends staying at or below 100 to maintain performance and avoid system lag.
