Operating Environment

• Check hardware manufacturers’ websites for driver and BIOS updates.
• Keep all Cencon client machines on the same subnet.
• Add an Lmhosts file to all Cencon 4 and CenTran 4 machines to assist WINS resolution.
• Add a hosts file to all Cencon 4 and CenTran 4 machines to assist DNS resolution.
• Synchronize time and date between clients and the server.
• Do not share printers. Use a network printer, print server, or series of local printers.
• Prevent peer-to-peer file sharing between clients.
• Check disk drives regularly and add or reclaim storage space as needed.

Network

• Maintain 1000 Mbps connectivity throughout the Cencon network segment.
• Connect Cencon 4 and CenTran 4 clients to the server using a switch or hub.

Driver Signing for Windows

Windows drivers and system files include Microsoft digital signatures. The signatures confirm the files were tested and not altered. Cencon USB KeyBox drivers are digitally signed and certified by Kaba Mas for Windows 7 and approved hardware.

Windows uses the following features to protect drivers and system files:

• Windows File Protection
• System File Checker
• File Signature Verification

HCL

The Microsoft Windows Catalog (HCL) lists hardware tested for Windows compatibility. Check the catalog before installing Windows. Kaba Mas can assist troubleshooting for non-HCL hardware, but resolution is not guaranteed and professional support rates apply.

BIOS

• Do not update the BIOS if the system runs correctly.
• Do not update the BIOS if the patch does not address your current problem.
• An unsuccessful BIOS flash may prevent the system from booting. Kaba Mas is not responsible for BIOS failures.
