How do I replace the tailpiece ring on the backside of an EVO LZ-D, or LZ-I.

Answer - Steps to install the replacement retaining rings.

Flip the lock over and upside down to allow thumbs to reach the hub easily.

Remove the existing ring that is loose.

Temporarily slide the gray wire retaining clip out of the way.

Lay the new ring on the hub with the split pointing toward the top of the lock (12 o’clock when normally mounted).

Press the ring down onto the hub using your thumbs.

Snap the new tailpiece in place

Hold the tailpiece at 45 45-degree angle and slide one side in place, and then rock it straight to lock the other side in (pics 7 & 8)

Slide the gray wire retaining clip back into place with the wire below it (pic 9)

Additional Information

The part number for the ring is 865-512439, and if a replacement tailpiece is needed, it is 041-512425-3 for a standard door up to 1 ¾” thick.

Press the ring down onto the hub using your thumbs. You will likely press one side down and then the other (pic 5) It will slide down and into the groove (pic 6) Make sure the entire ring is in the groove
Snap the new tailpiece in place Hold the tailpiece at 45 45-degree angle and slide one side in place, and then rock it straight to lock the other side in (pics 7 & 8)
Slide the gray wire retaining clip back into place with the wire below it (pic 9)
