We recommend using the NETCOM Program Utility to program the NETCOM2P device.
Download and extract this executable file: Keyscan NETCOM Setup.zip
The NETCOM2P programming guide will assist with the most common programming questions.
Programming Via Network Connection
The NETCOM2P will come with a default IP Address of 192.168.100.254 and to program it via a network connection (AD-HOC/Peer-Peer) the programming computer will also need a static IP Address. To set the computer's IP Address, open the Network & Sharing Centre. Click on Change Adapter Settings on the left side of the screen. Right-click on the ethernet connection that is attached to the NETCOM2P and select Properties. Double left-click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and set the properties as follows:
From a Command prompt, try to ping the default IP Address of the NETCOM2P:
ping 192.168.100.254
If the ping results are successful, then proceed with programming via the NETCOM Program Utility.
If the ping results are unsuccessful, then there are 2 options:
- Panel firmware v9.45 and newer can default the NETCOM2Ps IP Address
- Panel firmware v9.44 and older will require a serial connection (Keyscan USB-SER recommended)
*** Panels sold through Hotel/Lodging do not have the ability to default the NETCOM2P ***
To default a NETCOM2P mounted on the Ethernet M1 header on a 1097 panel, the tamper needs to be wired in. The panel switches S2.7 should be on and S2.8 should be off. Push and release the S1 and then press and release the tamper 3 times within 15s of the reset. After about 20s the panel will beep. Press and release the S1.
From a Command prompt, try to ping the default IP Address of the NETCOM2P:
ping 192.168.100.254
If the ping results are unsuccessful, then serial programming is the only solution.
Programming Via Telnet
If Telnet is enabled, the IP Address of the NETCOM2P can be updated via the Command prompt.
From a Command prompt enter the following command:
Telnet <NETCOM2P IP Address> 9999
Press Enter to execute the command & then press Enter again to enter Setup Mode.
You should be presented with a menu with options 0-9. Press 0 and hit Enter.
You are now presented with the first octet of the IP Address. If the octet is good, press Enter to move to the next octet. If the octet needs to be corrected, type in the new octet and press Enter. Repeat for the next 3 octets.
When presented with the gateway option, press Y to add a gateway IP Address and N to skip. IT will determine if a gateway is needed or not. If a gateway IP Address is required, repeat the steps in the previous instruction to add/update the gateway IP Address.
The Netmask Number Of Bits is a non-standard value and should be selected based on the following table:
| 2 = 255.255.255.252 |
14 = 255.255.194.0 |
| 3 = 255.255.255.248 | 15 = 255.255.128.0 |
| 4 = 255.255.255.240 | 16 = 255.255.0.0 |
| 5 = 255.255.255.224 | 17 = 255.254.0.0 |
| 6 = 255.255.255.192 | 18 = 255.252.0.0 |
| 7 = 255.255.255.128 | 19 = 255.248.0.0 |
| 8 = 255.255.255.0 (Default) | 20 = 255.240.0.0 |
| 9 = 255.255.254.0 | 21 = 255.224.0.0 |
| 10 = 255.255.252.0 | 22 = 255.192.0.0 |
| 11 = 255.255.248.0 | 23 = 255.128.0.0 |
| 12 = 255.255.240.0 | 24 = 255.0.0.0 |
| 13 = 255.255.224.0 |
Press Enter repeatedly until you return to the selection menu.
It is recommended to press 0 and Enter through the Server Settings just to review the changes.
From the selection menu, press 9 to save and then hit Enter
